Limits of cover art

This reminds me of a predicament I had scanning some 35mm slides. I would come across a roll with a few black images (lense cap on? lol). I decided it was important for me to scan it so that I knew there wasn’t a missing image. I suppose a plain CD tray is like that, but not as important as a possible missing photo.

But then we can use super crappy quality and tiny size.

[/quote]Maybe I’m too ‘visual’ a person for MB, but this pains me (more than it should)!
Imagine an album that’s all FLAC, except for an interlude or something in 192, because the ripper thought ‘well there’s nothing useful on the track’. Ouch

As the ripper is yourself, that does not really compare.
Anyway, I don’t think it’s that interesting to store 4 MB JPG for a plain grey tray photo.
It consumes Earth’s resources for what purpose? whereas the ultimate thing, if one cares enough for the music it contains — who would care for an plain colour tray? — is to go out and grab a copy of it.
