Geoff Achison/Souldiggers

The pages for Geoff Achison and Geoff Achison & The Souldiggers require a bit of cleanup but I have a few things I want to ask the community first.

  1. Should I change the Geoff Achison & The Souldiggers entry to just The Souldiggers and use a linking phrase for releases?
  2. There are no less than 4 Souldiggers bands that Geoff performs with in different parts of the world. Should I add seperate entries for them or combine them in the the one?
  3. Geoff sells his back catalogue on a USB stick. Should I be adding this as a digital release?

There’s a USB Flash Drive format when you’re putting in the track so I think you should use that instead. It’s located near the bottom.

I think you are looking at it the right way.

1\ Renaming the combined entity maintains that MBID. Using a linking phrase then makes it clearer when he is performing on his own and with the band.

2\ I’d stick to the one Souldigger entity. It is his backing band really. Do they get credited separately on the cover? If yes, then I’d get those details in to the tracks and recordings

Sometimes there are massive legal arguments about band names which cause clear splits and creations of new entities. I don’t think that is the case here.

I also look at the final result. After the cleanup it will mean that anyone looking at Geoff’s catalogue on MB will mean they see his output properly - solo and band. Your efforts build clarity and make the links between the entities clearer and more accurate than loosing part of Geoff’s output under a different name.

Funnily enough I am also in the middle of a similar clean up. It can take a few weeks to complete and will look really rather weird when you are part way through the changes.

Thanks for that. I might leave that one for the time being because each album has its own folder (with artwork), and I haven’t worked out how to split the release within the USB Flash Drive medium when adding it to the database.
