Since it is allowed to add magazines, it would be really nice to have the apppropriate format for these editions

As you’ve found out, an Edition Group can be of types “newspaper”, “journal” or “magazine”. That’s about as far as the guidelines go at the moment unfortunately.
There hasn’t been much focus yet on entering serials, but one thing that seems pretty clear is we will need a Series entity in order to enter them correctly.
It’s a discussion I’m sure @CatQuest will be interested in, who has serials they’ll eventually want to enter.
That would be nice. I’ve hundreds of journals, that need to be documented…
