Editing a track time that's associated with a Disc ID?

The last track is edited to show as 9:33 in duration, however the discID listed duration, and my file is 9:53. There’s only a single release of this that was sold at the venue when the show finished. I can’t seem to figure out how to edit this entry, what’s the move?

Use “Set track lengths” in the table at the bottom of the page

Maybe I’m blind, or maybe there’s a permissions thing, but there’s nowhere on the “set track lengths” page to actually change the track length? The only thing I seem to be able to do is submit an edit note.

And what do I click on this page?

This sets the lengths to how it is on the disc. You see the changed lengths under “Changes”, with the new lengths highlighted in green.

Click “enter edit” to submit an edit with those changes.

Track lengths are not manually set on this page. This is why you find no where to type the track times. The DiscID is the Table of Contents of the CD and therefore more accurate than a user can type. By applying the edit with “Enter Edit” you are now setting track lengths to 1000ths of a second. The “Changes” bit shows you the corrections being made.

Do remember to add an edit note.

Hello, Jetpig, and welcome to MusicBrainz! Thank you for being careful with the data.

As others have mentioned, the track length in the DiscID comes from the structure of data on the CD. If track 5 is listed as being 9:53 in length, it is because there is 9:53 worth of data physically on the CD. Thus it would be surprising for that value to be mistaken.

Where does the track duration of 9:33 come from? Is it printed on the Release packaging? If so, maybe the publisher made an error. When you play the CD, and time that track with a stopwatch, how long does that track last?

Re-read the OP:

I think the error was only in the original edit. Which can be fixed with applying the DiscID

How do I apply the DiscID?

discidtracklength

Ah, I see. It didn’t click that I don’t actually make any manual entries on this page, rather it applies the changes listed that it pulled from the disc id info.

I’d have said something but I also had trouble getting what “Set Track Lengths” was for, as I just thought submitting the Disc ID’s was it.
