Dot as final caracter is replaced by underscore

I just noticed a thing when files were renamed and moved on Windows.
The %albumartist% is 300 000 V.K. and files are moved to directory 300 000 V.K_

Why is the terminal dot replaced by underscore?
This is the case with the standard renaming scripts, already.

Are you using Windows?

Do not end a file or directory name with a space or a period. Although the underlying file system may support such names, the Windows shell and user interface does not. However, it is acceptable to specify a period as the first character of a name. For example, “.temp”.

Good point. Thanks for the question. I added the information in the question.

Above is already the answer: Filenames ending with a dot are not supported by Windows. Windows considers the last do the delimiter to a file extension and does not allow the dot as the last character.
