# Cover or arrangement when there are multiple versions of a recording?

For a few days there weren’t any new replies, so I assume it’s settled.

- When to use work
  - When there are [new or different] lyrics and lyricist is credited
  - When there are multiple recordings of a track

- When to use cover recording
  - When there are no lyrics and there is only 1 recording  
Arranger relationship goes to a recording.

With this in mind, I will edit the release I already edited and edit remaining ones.

I come back here with another question.  
I started editing [TOHO COMPLETE BOX](https://musicbrainz.org/release/3a43f391-29f0-4db0-b5bb-d1131ee93d1f). It’s a compilation of most of the band’s previous tracks.

The credits are slightly different for the tracks though.  
At some point [West Village](https://musicbrainz.org/artist/38bbaf47-77c5-4a8a-b01f-2e8b859d6a54) started getting credited as [Dougen Kubota](https://musicbrainz.org/artist/495df6d8-25c9-4c43-bd56-0d8eda7bc7db).  
That’s the same person.  
Now, I wanted to merge old recordings with the ones from TOHO COMPLETE BOX, but would that mean I need to add Dougen Kubota to the recordings relationships where there’s already West Village, or should those recordings be separate?
