Hello,
I’m having a deep dive into Thelonious Monk. I have a 4 CD compilation Monk’s Moods which I am listening to and I noticed that some of the recordings have information about who played on the sesison, the date and studio etc and some don’t.
So I plan to rectify this.
For example disc 2, track 13 “Little Rootie Tootie” has no information.
I have found the correct recording (there are great liner notes with dates and musicians in the CD booklet)
Before I do anything I wanted to check the correct procedure…
Do I merge the recordings, wait 1 week, then the correct recording should be attached to the Monk’s Mood compilation? This will avoid orphan recordings, right?

They also have common Track "9b191956-6343-4b28-81f4-87afcb51e059" | AcoustID but the duplicate recording is 4 seconds shorter than the correct recording.
If you think they are the same, just merge track 2.13’s recordings into the existing (older) recordings you’ve found.
And nothing more.
The merged recording will actually by behind track 2.13, after merge.

If you have the four CDs, then I recommend uploading the DiscIDs. This may well solve the issue of the track times.
When you do your merge, make sure you merge your track into the older track. Get the direction correct.
As to the track times… notice that the example you pick has times that vary from 3:02 to 3:08 already… even a 3:11 in there. Four seconds on a 3 minute track is small.
