Composer Boieldieux spelling (1d2efe5b-3683-4b57-b9a5-44d910935141)

The composer François-Adrien Boieldieu (id 1d2efe5b-3683-4b57-b9a5-44d910935141) is displayed with a trema above the 3rd letter; however, my booklet and any other source uses a plain letter. According to Wikepedia’s person disambiguity page (Boieldieu — Wikipédia), his son used this writing, and no one else.
Should this be corrected, and if yes, how? (Sorry, I am a newbie)

You could ask the original editor why he chose this spelling by leaving a note on the edit that created the artist: Edit #5059432 - MusicBrainz
@natenobility doesn’t seem to be active anymore though, so it’s unlikely you’ll get an answer.

I think this should be corrected.

You can edit an artist by going to their artist page and clicking on the Edit tab. Don’t forget to leave an edit note with your reasoning. (I think it’s better to leave the section “Artist credits” alone for now.)

It might also be useful to add an annotation explaining that father and son used different spellings. That way, later editors are less likely to carelessly change the spelling again. The link for that can be found at the right side of the page, under the header Editing. (Or click here for your convenience.)

PS Imagine being an elegant composer and have this building named after you! :see_no_evil_monkey:

Boïeldieu is pronounced differently (boy-el-dieu) than Boieldieu (bwa-el-dieu), though.

I guess the son added (or restored) the trema to present the correct reading of the name.
