Classical album title question

Release group in question:

There are currently 2 releases in this RG, and neither is titled strictly according to guidelines. One is named according to an abbreviated title on the spine, but even that doesn’t exactly match the spine. . As far as I can find, the guidelines don’t mention taking the release or RG title from the spine.

MB: Peer Gynt Suiten 1 und 2 / Holberg Suite
Spine: Peer Gynt Suiten no. 1 & no. 2 / Holberg Suite

The other is taken from the cover, but it repeats “Peer Gynt” with the two suites, which doesn’t happen on the cover. I can understand why they did it, though, since ‘Holberg’ isn’t part of Peer Gynt:

MB: Peer Gynt Suite no. 1, op. 46 / Peer Gynt Suite no. 2, op. 55 / Holberg Suite, op. 40
Cover: Peer Gynt Suite no. 1, op. 46 / Suite no. 2, op. 55 / Holberg Suite, op. 40

It seems to me that “Peer Gynt” is stylistically elevated above the suite names enough to qualify as a title on its own, and so the individual suite names needn’t be included in the release title.

What do you think?

I am not sure that PEER GYNT’s font size on the title reflects the publisher’s intent to set it as a title. The spine says the contrary, IMO.

I was leaning the other way, but I just found what appears to be an actual Hanssler catalog containing this release. It shows other albums that have actual titles, and this release is shown without one, so I think that may be my best source.

Yes. I guess they used a big font for Peer Gynt because they thought it would be the main reason people would buy the release.

I went ahead with an edit, if anyone cares to vote :innocent: :
