That’s not really the point. When I maximize my browser, it’s usually because I’m looking at a page that isn’t fully visible at my normal window size. If unreasonable margins are imposed because the window is large, my purpose is thwarted. Now, I’m not saying that happens very often on MB, but it is one of the reasons why I consider wasted margins to be unfriendly.

I’ve been thinking about this again, and just had an idea I wanted to share…

maybe if an artist is part of a [collaboration artist](https://musicbrainz.org/relationship/75c09861-6857-4ec0-9729-84eefde7fc86), do we want to include the collaborations’ releases on the artist’s main page? maybe in a seperate section?

take [Sakura Miko](https://musicbrainz.org/artist/1fd0ee3a-6114-4549-add4-402032759961), for example. she collaborated with [Hoshimachi Suisei](https://musicbrainz.org/artist/8eeb59f4-0071-4261-b1f8-91d8294622d2) under the name [miComet](https://musicbrainz.org/artist/e4d6939d-0a20-4308-ad82-81dc25d40524). with this change, the [one release](https://musicbrainz.org/release-group/b7d6871f-c9ea-4689-a457-0e5e27ed1ee3) by miComet would show up on both Miko and Suisei’s pages, without having to monkey with artist credits.

any thoughts?

one thing I thought of while we’re redesigning the artist page, collections should probably be easier to see. for example, on RYM they’ve got about 10 on an artist page:

[https://rateyourmusic.com/artist/linkin-park](https://rateyourmusic.com/artist/linkin-park)

I don’t know that we need 10, but at least 3, chosen at random

Thanks UltimateRiff, I have also copied your comments to the ticket FYI.

I think we can nicely handle this through @Jim_DeLaHunt’s suggested [‘Contributed to’ tab](https://tickets.metabrainz.org/secure/attachment/14842/home%20page%2002%20-%20desktop-1.2%20-%20contribution%20tab.png) on the artist page. What do you think?

With collapsible items in the sidebar we can make them more comprehensive without bothering people too much, so this is a good idea. (Did I forget collections in the mockups? I think I did…)

The other option would be to display them [at the bottom, in the big boxes](https://tickets.metabrainz.org/secure/attachment/14872/home%20page%2002%20-%20desktop-1.5%20grid.png) (ignore the bright gradient on everything, feedback has been heard and the next mockups will be plainer). Or both. I see the bottom section as a good way to ‘explore’ all the MB interlinks and collections are an excellent way of doing this.

that could be an option, but I think it might be better to have it more front and center, not hidden away in a tab… idk, I’m fine either way tho~

any of these options sounds great~

Ah, you were thinking a section like we have sections for ‘album’, ‘compilation’, etc?

Hmm. Does anyone else have thoughts? My first impression is that ‘collaborated on’ albums will not always be such a strong connection to be considered part of the ‘discography’. And that it doesn’t match the use expectations and precedent around what we display in that tab. Plus that the ‘contributed to’ tab seems perfect - but agreed that it is tucked away a bit more and if this is a case of ‘usually important enough to be in the discography’ it could be more front and center.

I think that’s what I was originally thinking… but alternatively, we could have it in the proper section like so:

```auto
アニマル | 星街すいせい collaborating as miComet
```

that way it’s clear that it’s different.

and remember, the Collaboration relationship is for short-term and one-off groups, so we wouldn’t be stuffing all of [Daryl Hall & John Oates](https://musicbrainz.org/artist/debabff3-2559-46e5-862d-ef2a906d7010)’s discography into Daryl Hall’s page, for example

I’ll try to hold off on replying more, to give others time for some input tho~ 🫠

Are you perhaps assuming that the list of an Artists own Releases will always be more important and more numerous than the list of Releases on which they “collaborated on”? True for some Artists, certainly. But I can also imagine some Artists for whom the most important work they did was part of a Collaboration. There will certainly be some Artists where both lists are empty: recording engineers, for example.

How about designing the “Release as Release Artist” and “Collaborated On” and “Related to” lists to fit in either a front and centre section or tucked away in a tab. Count up how many entries are in each. Put the lists with the most entries in front and centre sections. Put the lists with fewer entries in the side column.
